Bayonne Golf Course and Waterfront

This design pays homage to the history of Bayonne, New Jersey as a wetland, fishery, and industrial city. The main goals of this design were to acknowledge the history by bringing people to the waterfront, educate the public about the city’s past industries, and enhance the ecology of the area. There will be breakwater, and breakwater islands to limit sea level rise and wave energy impacts on the waterfront. The energy from these waves will be harvested from the breakwaters. Bayonne will become an energy city, using mostly alternative energies from wave energy and Algae energy.

History, Energy, and Waste Management

This diagram illustrates a combination of three different big ideas that we wanted to incorporate into our design. History, energy use, and waste management are all important topics to address in Bayonne. Industry, energy, and pollution have changed Bayonne’s landscape. To implement the rich history of Bayonne into the design, there will be a historical walkway along the floating wetland. To create an alternative energy, algae will be used as an eco friendly source of energy. For waste management, nets connected the the islands for elimination will collect trash and be picked up by special trash collection boats.

This historical walkway emphasized Bayonne, New Jersey’s past as an industrial city, former fishery hub, and yachting. Visitors to the site can walk around and learn more about Bayonne’s history as they promenade around the Hudson River Walkway.
